FOR-NY is working to engage and expand the New York recovery community through a variety of tactics including special events and a variety of new and traditional communications channels.
- Produce a monthly e-newsletter with updates on recovery policy, peer-based and community-based support services, multiple pathways to and of recovery, personal stories, and so much more
- Work with the media to extend our important messages to those who need to hear them
- Host a variety of special events; all of which serve to raise awareness of recovery, inspire support and ultimately, save lives
The New York State Recovery Conference & Celebration provides friends of recovery from New York and beyond with the opportunity to learn about new and innovative addiction recovery support services, updates on legislation and policies that impact individuals and families struggling with substance use disorders, as well as professionals working in the field, from leading experts at the national, state and local level.
The Annual FOR-NY Recovery Fine Arts Festival showcases the works of individuals in Recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. With more than 100 entries annually, the collection is prominently displayed at the Empire State Plaza for the month of September (National Recovery Month).
FOR-NY Addiction Recovery Advocacy Day attracts busloads of recovery allies from Long Island to Buffalo here to Albany each February to meet with legislators from their own districts and talk about what their communities need to help their neighbors achieve and sustain recovery.
