Share Your Story of Recovery or Recovery Advocacy
Stories should be those of current or former New Yorkers and range in length from 100 to 1,000 words. All stories should focus on Recovery, not addiction. Send your submission to us via email at info@FOR-NY.org, and include the following:
- Recovery Date
- Email/phone number
- Photos/Headshots are welcome and encouraged, but not required.
Your Story Could Be Exactly What Someone Else Needs Today
FOR-NY welcomes personal stories of recovery from individuals, family members and other loved ones living in Recovery from addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs. You can follow the 12-step model of sharing what it was like, what happened and what it’s like now; or if you prefer, just tell us a little bit about your life before recovery and how your life has changed since you or your loved one put down the drink or drug.
We also welcome personal stories of recovery advocacy. Tell us about how you support Recovery. Maybe you’ve contacted your elected officials to encourage their support, volunteered at a Recovery Walk or similar event, attended or even shared your experience at a public forum, or made a financial contribution to help further our efforts to grow recovery support throughout New York State. We’d love to hear what you’re doing to support recovery, why you got involved and what it’s meant to you.
